An Unwelcome Visitor

This evening as I was tidying up some toys in Joe's room I noticed a long thread at the base of Joe's curtains. When I followed the thread I found that the net curtain had a rip almost the entire length of it from top to bottom. Now I knew there was tear in the curtains a couple of inches long as Scarlett had found a hole in it the other day , stuck her finger in and pulled down but now the tear is MASSIVE. I was not impressed and asked Joe about it, he said it wasn't him or Scarlett. I called Scarlett in and she told me it was "the naughty kid" who had done it. I asked her for the name of the naughty kid and she replied "Ruby" and I was told all about how Ruby had come inside, ripped the curtains and was now at home. She apparently lives next door according to Joe, or if you ask Scarlett, Ruby lives in Fairyland.
Just you wait until I have a word with Ruby's parents. Actually the hard thing is I have no idea who did it so couldn't really tell anyone off, Scarlett looked the most guilty and told me Ruby had done it by putting her finger in the small rip. Joe claims Ruby did it by spreading the curtains apart thus ripping them further apart (which actually makes more sense as there is no way Scarlett and her finger could reach as high as the rip goes) The bottom line is I don't have a clue and couldn't really get angry at either of them.
It's hard trying to parent twins, but on the plus side I love how much they stood up for each other in a strange way. Made me a little proud, but also very scared at what is to come as they get older!

A Little Fairy Story

Yesterday afternoon I was trying to spend some one on one time with Scarlett snuggled on her bed reading a book. This usually means I turn the pages and she tells me her own story to the pictures..so it's a lovely story about a little bunny helping a fairy and getting to go to the Fairy Ball and meet the Fairy Queen and Scar gets to one part and says "and then the fairy says f**k it" and my jaw dropped to the ground. I asked her to repeat herself in case I heard wrong..but sure enough the same word came out. I asked her did you just say f**k it and she says she did. I then get into where did you hear that word and she says it's a mad word and that she heard it from Abbey when Abs was mad at her. I called Abbey in and asked her what words she uses at the twins when she is mad at them and she confessed to telling them to shut up, and eventually I got it out of her that yes she uses that word on the twins too. I asked where she heard it from etc and does she use it at school, do any of her friends use it etc. Apparently she learned it from the girl across the road who is 11 but they hang out with each other. I don't think her friend meant for Abs to use it, she showed Abs the inside of the CD cover of one of Pink's albums and said "look it's a swear word" type thing. I just told Ab and Scarlett to NOT use that word, that it isn't a nice word and the next time they used it they would be in BIG trouble. Abs knew she was in the wrong though and burst into tears the minute she knew that I knew she had used the word. She has such a conscience!

The Big Unveil

Of Joe's new room. Yes finally we have finished painting and sorting and can now show off to you the 4th bedroom of our house. We have yet to get him some new curtains, but he doesn't care, he is just happy to have his own room.

He is doing really well at going to bed and getting to sleep, no problems at all. Scarlett on the other hand has so far cried every morning when she has woken up alone in her room. At first she missed Joe, but now she is scared of the dark so last night we had to pop a night light in there and that was enough to settle her down to sleep. I think she is doing much better now that she is not being woken up so early. I spent Sunday sorting out all the toy tubs in the house and re-arranging her room so that it's a bit "new" for her too and we have an idea of a few things to get to help her room feel more hers. The big plus is that they both have so much more room to play now, the minus is they refuse to leave each other alone still!
